2005 YEAR END Newsletter available in .pdf

April, May y June 2005

We praise God for his faithfulness over the past couple of months. It has been his love and provision that has covered us!

In April, we had our annual assembly meeting.  It was during this time that we received a new board of directors, and focused on evaluating our management of last year, and we also planned and prayed about this year, 2005.  In addition, we also constituted a new group of volunteers to work at nights, where they are reaching children who roam the streets during the late hours. This group is doing an excellent job and we thank God for sending more workers to his ministry.

In May, we were blessed to share with the Burch’s and to pray for them as they prepared to leave Venezuela for the United States. In addition, we also began training our staff through different courses that were offered on reaching street children. We also received a visit from a family from Wisconsin (The Martins). They helped us with the children's medical reports and evaluations. And we received an excellent donation of pants for the boys!

In June, we attended our annual Niños de la Luz family retreat. God Blessed us greatly with the theme "Excellence in the Lord". At the retreat we were exhorted and encouraged to serve each day as thought it were the last. The retreat took place on a beautiful campground where we were able to share like a big family. While we enjoyed our time with God we had an excellent group of volunteers who took care of our children and teenagers. We are grateful for their wonderful work.

VALENCIA

We want to thank the Lord for the amazing job that the spouses Flores are making in Valencia. Also Judith, from our Valencia team is pregnant and we are excited about this new family member who will help us grow our big Niños de la Luz Family. Judith and her husband Humberto have been taking care of the children not only who live in the streets, but who also work and beg in the street as well.

Please pray:

-that the Lord will continue to work in our boys, both the new ones which are entering and those that are about to leave the Ranch.
-for these needs: A psychologist, a sports teacher, a Ranch director, finances for a new small vehicle and the finances to repair the swimming pool.
-that we can obtain the donations for the  missionary trip of this year, which our children and adolescents fortify  in their life the character of Christ.
-also for the marathon that we are thinking about having in October to help raise funds.

Thanks!!!!
Marisela Santiago

Jan, Feb & Mar 2005

We started this year off with much energy, trusting that we can move forward with the many programs in Niños de la Luz. We have already received 5 new children in this New Year and we hope to receive some more before the end of the year. God has blessed us in providing new house parents and the new house (Mi Esperanza). This has provided the way for us to bless these children with the light of Christ!

In February we received a group of 14 people from a church in Wisconsin, who were very helpful. They finished the remodeling of the house “El Camino" and worked on a number of small things, such as: pipes, tiling, placement of new fans etc. In March we received 2 work teams, one group of 8 people from California who helped us put up a fence for protection of the Ranch property. We also received another group of 11 college students from Florida. They helped finish putting up the fence.

We thank God for the groups of volunteers who come to dedicate their vacations, or their free time to share with the children and adolescents. They always encourage us and it is refreshing for us in our daily task of rescuing children who live on the street.

In December we received Pedro (not his real name). He is 6 years old and he comes to live with us after 4 years in the street with his parents. Pedro’s parents are homeless, alcoholics and drugs addicts. Pedro also used drugs before arriving at the Ranch. Upon arriving at the Ranch, he did not know how to use a restroom and his teeth were filled with cavities. Upon arrival, nobody could understand him when he spoke and he did not know how to follow rules. Nowadays, after 3 months at the Ranch, "El faro", Pedro says each morning "I am well". In addition, after psychiatric, dental and DIVINE intervention, Pedro is now on the road to recovery; physically, emotionally and spiritually. I definitively do not have enough words to describe the process that Pedro is going through. You have to see it to understand what I mean. I thank God for such a privilege!

Please pray for the following:
Pray that God will fill the house parents with much wisdom.
Pray that God will give us the financial resources that we need
Pray that God will guide us through several new projects in the days ahead.

-Marisela Santiago (National Director in Venezuela)
