Work is underway at the half way house, Casa De Paso!  A work team from Waupaca, Wisconsin traveled to Venezuela to begin rebuilding Casa de Paso, and to spend some time with the kids at the Ranch.  The group from Waupaca has been going down for several years, and they have built lasting relationships with some of the children there.

Jon Haslett traveled from the DR to Venezuela to guide the team, meet with the Ranch staff, and attend the Board of Directors meeting.

Ayysleth Zambrano, the Child Sponsorship Coordinator in Venezuela, tells us that a group of Venezuelan sponsors visited the Ranch in early January.  They had a very special time with the kids there.

The ministry team in Venezuela continues to work hard to grow support and nurture the relationships they have.

Jon and Shannon just completed the curriculum at the Life Navigation school.  The classes included managing finances, computers, electronics, relationships, critical thinking, putting together a CV/resume, and successful interviewing skills, as well as classes on how to study the bible, the characteristics of God, what it means to be a man of God and how to live as a Christian in the world today once we're equipped with this knowledge.  Although the group has had a few challenges, the struggles have provided Jon and Shannon with an opportunity to teach about conflict resolution and to get to talk with each of the guys on a deeper level, which is all part of the school.  It's great to see the boys continue to grow spiritually while learning so many of the practical skills they will need when they move on.  Their walk with God is the only constant that they can rely on in their uncertain future.  The boys (or should I say young men!) enjoyed a heartwarming Christmas with the Haslett family.  Each of the students received a study Bible with their name engraved on it for Christmas.  One of the boys remarked it was the best gift he had ever received.

A note from Jon:  We were flooded with a wash of mixed emotions as we saw the end of this school session draw to an end.  On one side, it was hard to say good-bye to those that we have seen grow so much over the past months and whom we have gotten to know and bond with.  But on the other hand, we are excited to see what God has in store for them in the future.  We know for some of them it will be hard to work out what they learned here once their independents is a reality, but we're confident that the school has equipped them with the tools they need give them a good start.   It's hard to believe four months has passed so quickly.  Thank you for your prayers!

We had and unfortunate event occur this last month.  Our only ministry vehicle was totaled in an accident when one of our staff, who was driving, tried to avoid a head on crash, he swerved and rolled the truck (well, he most certainly did avoid the crash with the other car any how).  Fortunately no one was hurt and no other damage was done just one totaled truck.  Pray that we might be able to replace it soon!

An interesting opportunity came our way with a chance to raise some much needed funds for NDLL.  Chris Dyer (Board of Directors) was approached to demo a house and used the opportunity to try and raise money for the ministry.  An estate sale was held in January and it went better than expected with a fabulous turn out of shoppers looking for bargains.  We are expecting funds totaling $24,000 from the sale!  We are very grateful to the homeowners who were open to the idea, allowing their home to be used this way to support the ministry.  CBC Junior High Ministry (in Southern California) is in full swing fundraising and preparing for their trip to the DR over Spring Break.  The group of 24 will participate in some work projects and do some outreach in the local community.

- Pray for the kids living on the streets, wherever that may be.  Pray that their hearts will be opened to God and His love.
- Pray for all the volunteers and ministry workers to have guidance, insight and wisdom from God in working with the kids who need His touch on their lives.
- Pray for safe travel for all the volunteers and supporters of the ministry.

Answered prayer - We have some new staff in Venezuela.  One teacher and two social workers as well as some new street volunteers.
